ZAP ILL service is maintained by professional software developers with a
combined 20 years of experience in ILL and electronic request sending.
*According to the recent ARL ILL performance study, high-performance,
low-cost ILL activity is related to:
- patron submission of electronic requests
- extensive use of technology
- extensive use of software
|
|
ZAP ILL service addresses all these factors without placing high-tech
demands on the ILL user, the ILL staff, or the library's technological
support unit.
ZAP ILL service is tailored to your library for your users:
You decide which fields are requested for citation information and which are
required fields.
You decide what types of requests require different fields
(i.e. documents, thesis).
You define patron types (grad, staff etc.) to support local
tracking needs.
You determine academic departments or other identifiers to link to
requests.
You supply any institution-specific instructions for your users.
You supply your local logo to identify ZAP as your ILL system.
ZAP ILL service is fast, simple and easy to use.
Users may send ILL requests 24 hours/day from any computer equipped
with a web browser.
ZAP automatically screens for eligible users - based on text file of
user ID numbers you provide (optional).
ZAP ILL service saves staff processing time:
ZAP allows ILL staff to eliminate paper request forms.
Requests are sent directly to OCLC and appear in your OCLC review file.
ZAP service includes OCLC Passport macros to pull the requests into a workform
to easily process the request.
ZAP is fully ISO compliant with national ILL standards (ISO 11060/11061)
allowing you to interface with any ISO compliant system.
ZAP transmits secure transactions to encrypt any transmission that
contains ID number.
The Server runs a backup of your request every 24 hours.
Backup request files are stored for 30 days.
ZAP ILL does not need technical support at your library.
Purchase of ZAP service includes:
Initial library setup, server maintenance, ongoing support, and
implementation of OCLC liaison activity.
ZAP ILL service is:
Linked to your library homepage and offers full electronic requesting
service to any user with a web browser - Netscape or Internet Explorer.
Hosted on a server at Colorado State University - all setup and
maintenance included.
No hardware or software is required to offer ZAP to your users.
ZAP ILL has:
Dedicated high-end UNIX server designed for reliable service for ILL
users at several hundred institutions.
No hardware or software is required to offer ZAP to your users.
No maintenance or system tracking needed by your staff.
ZAP ILL service is an economical solution:
ZAP ILL service is based on service which has handled over 250,000
ILL requests from Colorado libraries in the past two years.
PRICE:
One-time purchase/implementation fee: $2500.00
Annual maintenance/support fee: $ 600.00 yr
(Libraries currently using text-based ZAP may upgrade to webZAP
for $600 implementation fee, and annual maintenance/support fee of $600)
